DraftKings Predictions Review & Promo Code 2026: Trade $5, Get $50 — Best for Sports Fans in No-Sportsbook States

By The WouldYouBet Team · Published June 2026 · CFTC (Railbird / DKeX)

How we rate

Our score is a weighted composite we work out ourselves — we open and fund a real account, place and exit trades, test support and read the fine print, then weigh regulation, liquidity, fees, app quality and bonus value into one rating out of 5.

Read our full methodology →

DraftKings took the scenic route into prediction markets — it bought a CFTC-licensed exchange, then built a slick standalone app on top of it. What you get feels like the sportsbook millions already know, except it reaches into states where DraftKings Sportsbook legally can’t go. The welcome offer is one of the loudest in the category; the market depth is still playing catch-up.

The quick verdict

This is the most sportsbook-like prediction app out there — familiar layout, polished software, real-money payouts — and because it’s federally regulated, it runs in big states where regular betting is still off the table. The “trade $5, get $50” deal is genuinely strong value, and combo (parlay-style) trades are something most rivals can’t match yet. The honest knock, though: outside sports the catalog is thinner than what Kalshi or Polymarket offer, and even the sports depth is still filling out. If you’re a DraftKings regular or a fan stuck in California, Texas, Florida, or Georgia, that’s an easy trade-off to make.

How DraftKings Predictions works

First thing to clear up: this isn’t the DraftKings Sportsbook. Instead of betting the house at fixed odds, you trade event contracts with other users on a CFTC-regulated exchange. Each market is a plain yes/no question — will the Chiefs win Sunday, will the Fed hike — and the contracts run from $0.01 to $0.99, settling at a buck if you’re right and zero if you’re not. Prices shift with supply and demand, so you can bail out of a position early. The clever bit is that DraftKings built its own exchange (DKeX, out of the Railbird deal) to run and clear those trades, which is exactly what gives it federal reach the sportsbook doesn’t have.

DraftKings bonus and how to claim it

The new-user offer really pops: trade $5 and get $50 in Prediction Dollars — a 10x kick on your first qualifying trade. Prediction Dollars are bonus units you trade with, and the winnings you make off them are real, withdrawable cash. It’s the same “bet and get” shape DraftKings made famous on the sportsbook side, and the credit shows up fast.

  1. Download the DraftKings Predictions app through our link and create an account (your existing DraftKings login works).
  2. Verify your identity — name, location, date of birth, and the last four of your SSN.
  3. Make a first deposit (debit card, PayPal, online banking, and more all work).
  4. Place a qualifying trade of at least $5, and your $50 in Prediction Dollars hits right away, or within 72 hours if something hiccups.
There’s a refer-a-friend deal on top of it, worth $25 in Prediction Dollars for each of up to two friends who sign up and fund. These terms do move around, so double-check the live offer in-app before you trade.

Using DraftKings Predictions

Trading “first touchdown” timing
There’s a market on whether the first touchdown in Patriots vs. Seahawks comes inside the opening 10 minutes. You like the “Yes”, and it’s priced so a $10 stake returns $18, so you buy in. If a score lands in those first 10 minutes, you collect $18 (an $8 profit, minus the $0.02-per-contract fee); if not, your $10 is gone. Feeling bold? The combo feature lets you bundle compatible contracts onto one slip for a bigger payout — basically the prediction-market take on a parlay.

Markets overview

Sports run the show, with a supporting cast that keeps growing: sports (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB plus soccer, golf, tennis, F1, UFC, and college — winners, spreads, totals, and combos, though they’re held back in states that already allow sportsbook betting), economics and business (unemployment, federal funds, CPI, GDP, plus company and IPO markets), politics (congressional, gubernatorial, and presidential outcomes), and crypto and culture (daily Bitcoin and Ethereum markets, plus a small entertainment slate). Reviewers do keep noting that the depth inside each bucket is still modest for a brand this size — fine for the headline stuff, light once you go looking for the long tail.

How DraftKings compares

The most natural matchup is DraftKings vs FanDuel Predicts — two sportsbook giants running near-identical plays. DraftKings trades on its own exchange, charges a flat $0.02 per contract, and already has combos; FanDuel trades on CME’s exchange, charges 2% on payouts, and is live in all 50 states for non-sports markets. Both reach the big no-sportsbook states. Against Kalshi and Polymarket, DraftKings swaps breadth for familiarity — fewer markets, but a layout sports bettors already get. It’s simpler than Robinhood for sports, and miles wider than politics-only PredictIt.

App ratings and user feedback

4.8App Store
4.6Google Play
~$3.4Bannualized volume

The standalone app scores high on both stores, and users credit DraftKings’ decade-plus of building software — it’s clean, quick, and familiar. Liquidity holds up on the flagship markets thanks to a huge existing user base and the in-house exchange. The complaint you’ll hear most is about selection: folks coming over from the sportsbook expect a wider spread of lines and props than Predictions currently carries. As always, treat these store figures as where things stood in June 2026.

What’s new at DraftKings Predictions in 2026

This was the year DraftKings grabbed the wheel. After scooping up Railbird, it launched its own exchange, DKeX, in mid-May — meaning it now lists, clears, and runs the markets itself instead of leaning on a third party. It switched on sports contract combos (those parlay-style products) on May 11, and teamed with Crypto.com to add player-prop markets. The momentum is real, too: for the week ending June 21, DraftKings reported roughly $3.4 billion in annualized consumer volume (about $11.3 billion in total trading volume), and the product has grown from 38 states at launch to around 47. It even walked away from the American Gaming Association in late 2025 over the industry’s stance on prediction markets — which tells you how committed it is here.

Where DraftKings Predictions is legal, plus age and tax rules

DraftKings Predictions is now live in about 47 states plus DC for anyone 18 and up (19 or 21 in a few states). It’s generally not available in Arkansas, Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, and Ohio, with a couple of others off the list too. The bigger wrinkle is sports: those contracts are limited to roughly 17 states — mostly the big ones without legal online sportsbooks, like California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia — because DraftKings won’t run sports markets where its own sportsbook already operates. The app spells out exactly what you can trade.

On the tax side, prediction-market winnings count as taxable income, and DraftKings hands you the year-end tax paperwork through its usual account tools. Hang onto records of your trades, and talk to a CPA if the totals get large.

Support

Predictions plugs straight into DraftKings’ established support machine. There’s no public phone number you can dial, but help runs through 24/7 live chat (you start in the Help Center chatbot, which hands you to a live agent), email at support@draftkings.com, the self-serve help center at support.draftkings.com, and the @DK_Assist handle on X. If you’ve ever dealt with DraftKings support before, it’s the same setup — which, for most people, is a plus.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Generous “trade $5, get $50” welcome offer
  • Polished, sportsbook-familiar app (4.8/4.6 stores)
  • Combo (parlay-style) trades available
  • Legal in big no-sportsbook states (CA, TX, FL, GA)
  • Runs on its own CFTC-regulated exchange (DKeX)

Cons

  • Market depth still thin outside sports
  • Sports markets blocked in sportsbook states
  • Not yet live in every state
  • Flat $0.02 fee stacks up on high-priced contracts

Bottom line: our verdict

What reviewers keep landing on is that the experience is excellent and the menu is still filling in, and we’d put it the same way. This is the most polished, most sportsbook-familiar way into prediction markets, the $50-for-$5 offer is among the best around, and combos plus the in-house DKeX exchange show real ambition. The ceiling is depth — step away from marquee sports and headline macro markets and things thin out fast.

If you already bet with DraftKings, or you’re a fan boxed out by a no-sportsbook state, this is an easy first account — claim the bonus and run a combo. But if you want to trade weather, deep politics, or the long tail of culture, keep a Kalshi or Polymarket account open beside it.

How we rate DraftKings Predictions

4.2/5
★★★★☆
wouldyoubet.com rating — verified June 2026

We don’t hand out stars on a feeling — the 4.2 is assembled from signals anyone can verify. For DraftKings Predictions, that means its momentum and brand pull (a trusted national name, ~$3.4B annualized volume, a sprint to ~47 states), its store scores on iPhone (4.8) and Android (4.6) and its download numbers, the shape of the complaints (thin markets once you leave sports), what the trade-$5-get-$50 deal is genuinely worth, and how it shows up in the media — its own DKeX exchange and the Crypto.com tie-up on one hand, the sports-state restrictions on the other.

On top of that, our writeup works through the offer and its conditions, who owns it, how support performs, how it lines up against the competition, and your most-asked questions — and those feed the score up top. DraftKings Predictions sits at 4.2/5: a polished, well-funded, generously bonused app that’s perfect for sports fans in no-sportsbook states, kept from a higher mark by limited depth outside sports and by sports lockouts across much of the country. This reflects June 2026, and we revisit it as the platform and its scores change.

DraftKings Predictions FAQ

Is DraftKings Predictions the same as the sportsbook?

Nope. It’s a separate, CFTC-regulated prediction market where you trade event contracts with other users on DraftKings’ own DKeX exchange — which is exactly why it’s legal in more states than the sportsbook.

What is the DraftKings Predictions bonus, and is there a code?

Trade $5 and get $50 in Prediction Dollars — no code needed when you join through our link. You trade with the Prediction Dollars, and any winnings turn into withdrawable cash.

What are Prediction Dollars?

They’re the non-withdrawable bonus units from the welcome offer. You buy contracts with them, and the profits you make are real money you can pull out.

Can I bet on sports anywhere?

Sports contracts are limited to roughly 17 states — mostly the big ones without legal sportsbooks, like California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Everywhere else you’ll see non-sports markets. The app confirms your access.

What states is DraftKings Predictions available in?

About 47 states plus DC. It’s generally not offered in AR, AZ, CT, IL, LA, MA, MD, MI, NV, and OH, plus a couple of others. Check eligibility in-app.

What fees does DraftKings Predictions charge?

A flat $0.02 per contract, each way. Simple — but on high-priced (high-probability) contracts that flat fee eats a bigger slice of a small potential profit, so factor it in.

How are winnings taxed?

Prediction-market profits are taxable income, and DraftKings gives you year-end tax paperwork through your account. Keep your own records, and check with a CPA on larger amounts.

Does DraftKings Predictions offer parlays?

Yes — it added sports contract combos (parlay-style products) in May 2026, so you can bundle compatible contracts onto one slip for a boosted payout.

How do I contact DraftKings Predictions support?

Through 24/7 live chat (via the Help Center chatbot), email at support@draftkings.com, the help center at support.draftkings.com, and @DK_Assist on X. There’s no public phone number to call.
